Michael Gorrell is a trial lawyer and recent graduate of Harvard Law School. Within six months of graduating law school, Mr. Gorrell played an active role at trial in securing an almost $9MM verdict on conspiracy, trade secret misappropriation, and breach of fiduciary duty claims against 14 former employees of AZA’s client. During trial, Mr. Gorrell cross-examined two key witnesses and directly examined a third.

While at Harvard Mr. Gorrell was a student practitioner for the Veterans Law and Disability Benefits Clinic. During his time with the clinic, Mr. Gorrell argued and won a hearing before a Veterans Law Judge, co-authored a writ of mandamus that was accepted by the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and led to a reversal of VA policy, and argued a class certification motion before the MA Superior Court.

Mr. Gorrell began working at AZA in 2021 as a summer associate. As a key team member at trial, he argued and won a motion regarding an alleged jury selection error that helped enable a $5.1 million recovery for AZA’s client. Mr. Gorrell also worked as an AZA law clerk during his last year of law school.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Gorrell served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force as an acquisitions officer directing weapons systems development and test programs and received numerous awards throughout his military service. He spent his final year of service as an air operations officer for the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Timbuktu, Mali.

Mr. Gorrell graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Finance with honors and high distinction. During college, he was a member of the Air Force Reserves Officer Training Corps and received his officer commission upon graduation. He also graduated from Oklahoma State University with an M.B.A.
