Chris Hackerman has significant litigation experience in both plaintiff and defense matters. He has actively represented several clients in oil and gas related industries, including trade secrets and confidential information, product liability, contract disputes, embezzlement, mineral interest disputes, and antitrust. Other areas of practice have included fraud, fiduciary duty, personal injury, suits on account, and deceptive trade practices. Mr. Hackerman has actively represented clients in both state and federal court.

Prior to joining AZA, Mr. Hackerman was a partner at Doyle, Restrepo, Harvin & Robbins, L.L.P. where he practiced for 26 years. Since 2017, he has been an Advisory Council member for The Landing, a nonprofit organization in Houston for victims of human trafficking.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Multiple matters involving pursuing claims for misappropriation and/or protection of trade secrets and confidential information, including against competitors and former employees.
  • Related matters involving pursuing claims for employee misconduct, including misappropriation of corporate funds, and obtaining finding of nondischargeability against former employee in bankruptcy court.
  • Pursuing claims for employee misconduct, including acceptance of kickbacks.
  • Defense of claims involving anti-trust violations.
  • Defense of contract, fraud, and DTPA claims arising from a dispute over a distribution agreement and pursuit of counterclaims.
  • Disputes concerning acquisition of business or business units.
  • Pursuit of commercial claims for monies owed under contract and defense against counter-claims for fraud and breach of contract.
  • Matters involving defense of products liability and related personal injury and commercial claims, including with regard to products in the oil and gas industry.
  • Multi-party matter relating to rig fire in Alaska and involving issues addressing products liability and indemnity and release provisions under contract.
  • Pursuit of claims for payment of well expenses and defense of counter-claims for willful misconduct, gross negligence, and breach of contract.
  • Representation of a former professional athlete against a former agent and advisor, including pursuing claims for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Dismissal based on forum non conveniens of claims by foreign company for fraud, breach of contract, and alter ego relating to sales representative agreement.

Pro bono matters assisting resolution of various issues involving students at a local university.
