Matthew Micik is a trial lawyer and a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he served on the Executive Committee of the Michigan Journal of International Law and as the president of Michigan Law Outlaws. Mr. Micik joined AZA from a leading global law firm where he worked on teams representing institutional and strategic investors in corporate and business transactions of both public and private companies, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and venture capital for a diverse array of industries such as renewable energy, life sciences, and healthcare.

Just nine months after joining AZA, Matt served as second chair in a complex jury trial in Travis County, defending an individual client against an insurance company in a longstanding dispute. His first courtroom opening statement and successful Robinson motion to exclude a key expert witness helped secure a unanimous jury verdict, with a full recovery of attorney’s fees. After years of prior litigation at various levels, the insurance company’s last effort in court ended in a decisive victory for the client.

Before law school, Mr. Micik taught for Teach for America. He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Texas A&M University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
