AZA represents property owners, engineers, developers, and contractors in a variety of construction-related matters. Our construction matters usually involve large-scale industrial or commercial projects, including pipeline systems, port facilities, and large residential development projects. We also represent property owners in real estate matters, including business disputes and condemnation actions. Our real estate clients include large companies as well as prominent members of the Houston community.
In the past two and a half years alone, AZA’s construction and real estate clients have been awarded jury verdicts over $60 million. AZA leverages its trial expertise to drive desirable results, including reaching favorable settlements and winning dispositive motions.
Representative matters include:
- In a complex six-week trial in 2023 involving construction defects and delays arising out of the construction of a large mixed-use development in Midtown Houston, a Harris County jury awarded AZA’ client $32.5 million.
- In March 2022, a jury in the Southern District of Texas returned a $28 million verdict for AZA’s client in a breach of contract dispute regarding the upkeep of a portside grain elevator.
- AZA prevailed at trial with a defense verdict in an August 2022 jury trial when its client was sued for millions for allegedly failing to pay its construction contractor of a desalination plant project.
