Ali Hamza is a trial lawyer and graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. At UT Law, he served as an Associate Editor of The Texas Law Review and published his student note, A Closer Look at Participation Agreements: Criticisms and Jurisdiction. He interned for Judge David Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Matthew Murrell.

Through the Capital Punishment Clinic, Hamza helped draft a petition to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, conducted juror interviews, and prepared legal arguments. He competed on the Interscholastic Mock Trial Team and reached the quarterfinals of the Hutcheson Moot Court Competition. He also completed a two-week intensive trial advocacy course at the Academy of the Advocate in St. Andrews, Scotland, taught by federal judges and Baylor Law faculty. He served as Co-President of the Muslim Law Students Association and was active in the Barbara Jordan Inn of Court and the Board of Advocates.

Before law school, Hamza graduated summa cum laude and with honors from Lamar University with a degree in Political Science and Government. He attended Lamar University on a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship and was named both a Presidential and SURF Fellow, receiving over $13,000 in research grants. He competed nationally in Moot Court, ranking as the 8th best orator in the nation at the American Moot Court Association championship. He also founded LU Strong, the university’s first student-run hurricane response organization, which mobilized students to aid Southeast Texas citizens affected by natural disasters.
