November 12, 2012

HOUSTON – The complex commercial litigation and intellectual property boutique Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing P.C., or AZA, is continuing to grow with the addition of two experienced attorneys in Houston.

Commercial business litigator Megan Bibb and intellectual property lawyer Kyril Talanov will help bolster AZA’s existing work for clients in complex commercial litigation and intellectual property law.

“Megan and Kyril are excellent attorneys who are perfectly suited to help continue our growth in commercial litigation and IP law, two areas that are increasingly important to our clients,” says John Zavitsanos, one of the founders of AZA.

Ms. Bibb is a trial lawyer who focuses her practice on energy, general business and banking litigation. She has represented oil and gas companies in a variety of disputes arising out of claims for both property damage and personal injury. Her legal track record also includes work for clients in business litigation disputes, including cases involving allegations of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and tortious interference.

She also has represented financial institutions in litigation and disputes over foreclosures, notes ownership and lender liability. Ms. Bibb is a frequent author on oil and gas litigation topics, including regulation enforcement, taxing and mineral estates. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, and served as executive editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law.

Mr. Talanov is an intellectual property lawyer who emphasizes his practice on patent litigation. Before earning his law degree, Mr. Talanov worked as a process engineer in the energy industry. His law practice focuses on intellectual property matters, including patent and trade secret litigation involving a variety of technologies, including oilfield drilling and completion tools, smart phones and medical devices.

While in law school at the University of Houston Law Center, Mr. Talanov assisted with patent prosecution involving various chemical and mechanical arts while working with a boutique law firm. He also interned for the Hon. Tim Taft at the First Court of Appeals of Texas in Houston.

Mr. Talanov previously worked as a process engineer with ExxonMobil and Black & Veatch in the fields of oil, gas and petrochemicals technology, including olefins and aromatics, syngas, utilities, gas processing and desulfurization, and LNG. His responsibilities included engineering design of large grassroots facilities, de-bottleneck projects, and technical support for chemical plant and refinery operations. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering, cum laude, from Texas Tech University.
