AZA’s Patrick Yarborough Elected to Houston Young Lawyers Association Board
April 27, 2018HOUSTON – AZA lawyer Patrick Yarborough has been elected to the board of directors of the Houston Young Lawyers Association, which has nine elected positions.
Houston Young Lawyers Association (HYLA) is Houston’s young professionals’ organization and specialty bar association founded in 1937. Membership includes law students, lawyers who are 36 or younger, or those in their first five years of practice. The group’s mission is to learn, lead, network and serve.
“I’m very pleased to be elected to this board,” said Mr. Yarborough. “HYLA is an impressive organization that provides our community with valuable continuing legal education, pro bono opportunities, ways to get involved with the Houston community and social events.”
Mr. Yarborough, who just finished a term on the board of directors of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Inc., is a commercial litigator with experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, mediation, arbitration, dispositive motion hearings, and trial. He served as lead counsel for an oilfield services company in a successful arbitration and has argued numerous hearings in state and federal court. As a participant in the city of Houston’s Volunteer Prosecutor Program, he has won many jury trials.
Before joining AZA, Mr. Yarborough was an associate in the litigation section at Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP. He also served as a briefing attorney to Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Nathan Hecht and a federal judge in the Middle District of Alabama.
Mr. Yarborough earned his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and served on the Texas Law Review. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
