Judge Daryl Moore Joins AZA’s Appellate Practice

HOUSTON – Accomplished appellate and trial lawyer and former Harris County Judge Daryl Moore joins AZA’s appellate practice in 2021. 

Judge Moore was called one of the best judges in Harris County when he served on the bench in the 333rd District Court. He has been lauded for his performance on the bench, for his service to the Houston Bar Association and as an advocate for law libraries. 

“Judge Moore has such an impressive resume and extraordinary experience and insight. We are thrilled he is joining our appellate practice, which has been gaining steam and making law in the last few years,” said AZA co-founder John Zavitsanos. 

Judge Moore has taught appellate law at three Texas law schoolsis a regular speaker at State Bar of Texas appellate and trial seminars, and has authored or co-authored three bookin the ubiquitous O’Connor’s series. He serves on the Texas Pattern Jury Charge Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists, a group that named him Trial Judge of the Year for 2018.

Judge Moore has been board-certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995. He served as chair of the Civil Appellate Board Certification Committee from 2008 to 2011. He was chair of the Appellate Practice Sections of both the State Bar and the Houston Bar Association and a director of the Litigation Section of the Houston Bar Association. 

Before becoming a judge, he practiced trial and appellate work from 1993 to 2016. Judge Moore earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and has a master’s degree from Houston Baptist University.
