AZA Wins Take-Nothing Judgment for Fuel Company
May 15, 2023

HOUSTON – AZA defeated a $5 million breach of contract claim for a Houston-based fuel company that was sued by an international fuel trader.

A Harris County district judge ruled in May for AZA’s client following a one-week trial in April that ended with both sides submitting proposed findings, conclusions, and judgments.

This was the ninth case AZA lawyers have already tried to verdict or decision in 2023. AZA began two more trials this week.  In 2022, AZA tried 14 cases to verdict or decision.

The plaintiff sued AZA’s client for damages for allegedly breaching supply agreements. The trial was the culmination of three years of litigation. Adding interest and legal fees, the judgment would have likely exceeded $5 million.

“It’s always rewarding to end a hard-fought litigation with a win for our client,” said AZA trial lawyer Kyle Poelker. The trial team also included attorneys Todd Mensing and Harrison Scheer, and paralegals Taylor Young and Alejandra Ramos.
