AZA Continues its String of Victories in Trade-Secret Litigation
July 13, 2010Our lawyers have handled many trade secret cases at all stages of litigation. Most recently, AZA lawyers Elizabeth (Lizzie) Pannill and John Zavitsanos won a week long temporary injunction hearing on behalf of MISTRAS (NYSE: MG) in a suit brought by a MISTRAS competitor who alleged that MISTRAS misappropriated that company’s trade secrets. The temporary injunction hearing lasted a week and nearly ten witnesses testified during that hearing. The court denied the Plaintiff’s temporary injunction (following an earlier denial of a temporary restraining order) and will set the case for jury trial later this year.
In an unrelated matter, AZA attorneys Kinan Romman and Amir Alavi successfully obtained a temporary restraining order for theft of trade secrets on behalf of Viswa Labs, an international company that tests bunker fuel for large freighters. Working with a team of forensic experts, AZA was able to successfully demonstrate to the court that a temporary restraining order should be issued immediately preventing the Defendant (a former employee) from competing with the lab and using sensitive information he had obtained to the lab’s detriment. Following the entry of the temporary restraining order, AZA negotiated a settlement which included a five year non-compete in favor of our client.
Whether it is representing a company which files an action to protect its trade secrets or representing a competitor against whom such allegations are made, AZA has won every trade secret matter it has handled in the last five years.
