Attorneys from Houston’s AZA Law Firm Honored by Texas Super Lawyers

HOUSTON – Six attorneys from the complex litigation and intellectual property law firm AZA, or AZA, have earned spots on the 2012 Texas Super Lawyers list of the state’s top attorneys, including appearances in the Top 100 in Texas and Top 100 in Houston lists for name partners Joseph Ahmad and John Zavitsanos.
Mr. Ahmad and Mr. Zavitsanos have both earned the highest possible AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and both are members of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates, an elite group of the country’s leading judges and civil trial lawyers.
In addition to Mr. Ahmad and Mr. Zavitsanos, AZA partners Amir Alavi, Demetrios Anaipakos and Sean Gorman and of counsel David E. Warden were named to the 10th annual Texas Super Lawyers list. Mr. Warden, Mr. Ahmad and Mr. Zavitsanos each have been included on the list every year it has been published.
The Texas Super Lawyers list is based on a statewide survey that asks attorneys to nominate their peers. A blue-ribbon panel of lawyers assists with final selections, and less than 5 percent of all attorneys earn the recognition each year. Mr. Zavitsanos has tried more than 75 cases to verdict in several areas of law, including financial services, construction, oil and gas, complex commercial disputes, and director and officer liability. He has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law since 1997 by both the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Anaipakos represents plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes complex commercial litigation and intellectual property cases in the U.S. and abroad. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been on the Texas Super Lawyers list since 2004.
Mr. Alavi represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation throughout the U.S. Before joining AZA, he was the general counsel of a privately-held company with more than 5,000 employees. While there, he managed the mergers and acquisition department and handled several acquisitions of public and private companies.
Mr. Gorman provides extensive experience in complex business litigation and arbitration for both plaintiffs and defendants, including cases involving contract, fraud, energy, real estate and intellectual property matters. Mr. Gorman has represented clients based in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Mr. Warden is an internationally recognized expert in patents, intellectual property, business litigation and arbitration. Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Warden has arbitrated cases under the auspices of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (Paris) and American Arbitration Association (New York).
Mr. Ahmad primarily represents executives in litigation, including trade secret and non-compete cases. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and has been recognized as one of the country’s leading attorneys by Chambers USA.
