Litigators Amir Alavi, Jane Robinson get claims tossed from court

HOUSTON – Attorneys Amir Alavi and Jane Langdell Robinson from the complex commercial litigation firm Ahmad, Anaipakos, Zavitsanos, Alavi & Mensing P.C., or AZA, successfully secured a complete dismissal of shareholder oppression and breach of fiduciary duty claims for their client in a federal bankruptcy case filed by a technology company.

In late August, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur of Houston dismissed the claims against AZA’s client as part of a bankruptcy proceeding involving a technology company that develops catalytic gasification processes.

“We are gratified that the federal judge ruled in favor of our client in these improperly raised claims,” says Mr. Alavi, a partner at AZA who served as the lead lawyer in this matter.

The case is In Re: NC12, Inc. in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division.

AZA, known as AZA, is a Houston-based law firm that is home to true courtroom lawyers with a formidable track record in complex commercial litigation, including energy, intellectual property, securities fraud, construction, and business dispute cases. AZA is one of only 32 firms in the U.S. to be recognized as “awesome opponents” in a nationwide poll of corporate general counsel who were asked to name the law firms they hope their companies never have to face in court. In fact, AZA has been hired on many occasions by the same companies the firm has prevailed against at trial.
